The biennial Singapore International String Conference is back after a long hiatus due to Covid-19. Now, in its eighth instalment, will take place from 4-7 December 2024. Held over the December school holidays, the four-day event is aimed at youths aged 3 – 18 years who are learning string instruments (violin, viola, cello and double bass). It provides a positive and fun-filled environment where they can work with international clinicians and teachers, build technical mastery of their instrument, and further their passion through being inspired in a creative setting. The last SISC in 2018 drew over 200 participants from Singapore and the region.

Participants across different levels will benefit daily from a robust programme which includes technique and repertoire, orchestra, improvisation, Dalcroze, performance rehearsals, concerts, masterclasses and talks. Teachers will also benefit from the opportunity to revisit pedagogy approaches and experience different perspectives in today’s learning environment, while parents can better understand their role in their family’s journey with music. The conference embraces a wide range of teaching methods and will be an extraordinary period of immersion for all young players as well as teachers.
